In today’s fire service, leadership often involves politics. This seminar aims to provide a strategic pause to evaluate current advocacy efforts: What’s on your advocacy calendar? What actions are you taking? And more importantly—what’s missing?

We’ll explore how advocates and policymakers prioritize and plan, and discuss how you can adopt similar strategies to amplify your impact. We'll also discuss how to become a more effective and proactive advocate by navigating the political landscape with purpose and speaking up early—before decisions are made without your input. 

Participants will evaluate ongoing efforts to:

• Build and maintain strong advocacy relationships

• Understand legislative timelines and opportunities for influence

• Engage meaningfully in state and national organizations to exchange critical information and strengthen collective advocacy

• Share timely, relevant information with key decision-makers

• Develop and mentor the next generation of advocacy leaders
