Speaker Bio
Dr. Ben Stone is a retired Chief Fire Officer, educator, author, and nationally recognized fire service instructor with more than 20 years of leadership experience. He serves as a professor at Columbia Southern University and an instructor with the National Fire Academy, focusing on leadership, ethics, professional development, and organizational performance.
Dr. Stone holds a Doctor of Education, an MBA, a master’s degree in executive leadership, and degrees in fire science and emergency medical services. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s prestigious Executive Fire Officer Program and a recipient of the EFO Program’s Manno Award.
Dr. Stone is also a graduate of Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program, an intensive executive education program focused on leadership, governance, policy, and public-sector management.
His work connects academic research with the realities of leading people in high-risk organizations. Drawing from decades of fire service experience, Dr. Stone challenges leaders to examine organizational culture, ethical decision-making, accountability, and their responsibility for developing the next generation of leaders.
