Eric Valliere has been an active member of the fire service since 1991 when he started as a Firefighter with the Mesa Fire Department (AZ) in 1991 and came to the Scottsdale Fire Department (AZ) (SFD) as a Battalion Chief in 2005 – when the department was transitioning to a municipal organization. During his career, he has worked in and managed all areas of the Fire Department, including Operations, EMS, Training, Prevention & CRR, Resource/Logistics/Fire Fleet, Administration/HR, and Safety Health & Wellness. Chief Valliere currently holds the rank of Assistant Fire Chief over Professional Services and has a BSBA in Finance, and currently holds the Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFOD).
Assistant Fire Chief Valliere has been serving on the Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA) Board since 2013 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board. He is very engaged in the Phoenix regional automatic-aid committees and Fire Department Labor-Management Teams. Currently, Chief Valliere is the Co-Chair of the regional Valley Safety Officers (VSO) committee, past Co-Chair of the Regional Operations Consistency Committee (ROCC), the Chair for the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association Safety section, AZ State Advocate for the NFFF’s EGH program, and a member of the IAFC Safety Health & Survival Section and Metro Chiefs Section. He also works with Drexel FIRST Center to deliver their grant funded Safety Climate Program and holds a position on their Advisory Board.
Chief Valliere has a passion for safety and strives to strengthen the safety culture within his organization, the state of Arizona, the Phoenix Regional Auto-aid System, and nationally by promoting the FDSOA’s and NFFF’s mission. He feels it is critically important to: promote the 16 FF Safety Initiatives at the local and national levels, promote new and innovative ways to deliver safety education and information, and build a consistent and sustainable safety culture nationally.
