Captain Hawkins started his career as a volunteer firefighter in Rock River, Wyoming in 2003, and Albany County Fire District 1 until 2011 when he became a career firefighter with the Laramie Fire Department. While serving at LFD he became a paramedic, served as EMS Coordinator, as was promoted to Engineer.

In 2018 he moved to Mountain View Fire Rescue as a FireMedic, became a Field Instructor, and promoted Lieutenant in 2022. In 2024 he was promoted to Captain where he currently serves in Mead Colorado at MVFR Station 3. He has also served Albany County Fire District 1 as an elected Board Chairman. And currently lives in Albany County Wyoming, and enjoys spending time in with his wife of 24 years and 4 adult children.

Captain Hawkins has an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies Instructional Technologies, and in Paramedicine. A Bachelors of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership, and currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Wyoming.
Notable Events include: 45+ vehicle accident and a 70+ vehicle accident on Interstate 80 both in 2015, in Wyoming. As well as the Marshall Fire in 2021, Superior Colorado.
