This course provides a comprehensive overview of fire code authority and implementation for fire districts. Participants will examine the legal extent to which fire districts are authorized to adopt fire codes and the statutory or regulatory requirements associated with code adoption, including when municipal or county approval is necessary. The course outlines procedural pathways for adopting a fire code, practical strategies for navigating approval processes, and options available if a municipality or county declines to approve a proposed code. In addition, it will address CWRC including how and why the CWRC adoption differs from standard fire codes, statutory requirements for adopting a CWRC, and the available tools for enforcement.
