'Good Enough' Leaders Are Good Enough!
Description

“Not everyone has the self-reflection, motivation, emotional commitment, dedication or desire to be an excellent leader.  It is time to realign our leadership programs to focus on developing "good enough' leaders & good enough followers

Setting leadership expectations so high means setting a standard of leadership that is very difficult, if not impossible, for the majority to achieve. And we continue to try to teach leadership skills people often don’t have the capacity to use.  This is where traditional leadership development programs have proven insufficient.

The current chaotic approaches for leadership development have not kept pace with the acceleration of the speed of change.   The current approach to leadership development is antiquated, extremely slow, nearly impossible to measure and is neither systematic nor sustainable.

By applying concepts from the Pareto Principle to the development, evaluation and sustainment of leaders, coupled with the acceptance of ‘good enough’ leadership & followership concepts and skills, the fire service can accelerate, replicate, evaluate and maintain both excellent and good enough leaders”
