Name
First-Arriving Company Officer Strategy & Tactics - How We Make Sound Decisions to Set Up the Scene for Success
Description
Do you ever wonder how we make decisions in a split second as we arrive on a fire? How do Officers know what to do and how do they decide the priorities of an incident? This session is for anyone who sets in the front seat, arrives first, and wants to better their skills at making good decisions in a moment's notice. We will cover what you should be doing long before the call, reference materials that every Officer should have, what should be done on the way to the call, hydrant vs no hydrant, arrival decisions, determining priorities, fireground math for stretches and hose sizing, and suppression considerations. Then, we will walk through various fire scenarios and discuss the how and the why.
