Mark Novak is the Chair of the IAFC Wildland Fire Policy Committee. Mark recently retired from the fire service after a 40-year career. He spent the last 11 years of his career as the Fire Chief in Vail, Colorado. Much of Mark's career has been focused on wildfire resilience. He has served as the IAFC representative to the National Association of State Foresters Wildfire Committee, the Wildfire Leadership Council, the NFPA 1140 Technical Committee, and the Colorado Fire Commission. Mark also serves as a facilitator with the IAFC's Fire Department Exchange Program. Currently, he is a Senior Wildfire Fellow with the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety and advises firetech companies.
